    Member Login

    Hi gang
I am not a big database guy but a client of mine wants to set up a site that has a member login area... Meaning the site can only be accessed by members that have registered. I was wondering if there would be a non-database way of doing this?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

PS- this is my first post. Whoever thought of creating a forum that emcompasses all coding languages - what a great idea!!! Good work

You could use a text file to do it but it wouldn't be the most efficent way of doing it. So like on each line of the text file you could have a username and their password. Regardless, you are going to want to use a server-side language like ASP or PHP to do it right.

    Thanks Oracle guy...
Can you suggest some PHP code or ASP code to accomplish this? I would greatly appreciate it. Even if you could direct me to a tutorial or a link to learn more about doing this member log in that would be great.

    Thanks

I recomend using Omnis as a server and just upload your files on there, and use the htaccess it gives you free. You have to manually set up who has access to what, but its more secure then the average login script. Omnis has one of the best hosting plans I could find, I use them too, and I love 'em. But it gives you a domain and 1gig for 8 bucks a month and its got the htaccess login, so take a look
