    input text field, no auto-fill please!!

    Hello everyone, l've got a quick basic HTML question. Or perhaps it can be done with CSS ... I hope anyway.

    But here's my question.

    Say l've got:
    <input type="text" name="username" value="" size="10">

    is there _anyway_ to prevent the text field from "auto-filling" itself when a user beings to type something in? I know l can turn this off myself in my browser settings, but l just wanted to know if there was a way to turn just turn it off entirely from anyone who visits/uses my page, with a tag or something?

    Thanks for your help,
    Samantha "Sick of autofill" Gram

    No, but why would you want to do that _anyway_?

    bummer... I was afraid of that.

    why? well l've got a "shout box" script that l wrote...

    and it autofills when you're in the middle of putting a comment in, it gets annoying. LoL

    Thanks anyways...

    I was only guessing...

    Text input elements (in IE, at least) have an attribute|property named "autocomplete" (of all things); I wonder what that might do...
