Unhappy Save As Dialog Box Needed

I have searched this site and really didn't see anything that answered this question. I am doing a website and all I want to do is when a user clicks on a link to a .pdf file I have I want the Save As Dialog Box to Appear where they can choose to save it or open it. Right now when I click the link it opens Acrobat Reader and the file I am accessing. The ideal thing here is for the Save As Box to pop-up.

    Thanks,
    Reid

It sounds like you need to adjust your browser settings or Acrobat Reader settings to prompt you to save or open a file when a link to a .pdf file is clicked....

I'm no help desk professional, but it doesn't sound like a developing issue....

Ok, so I read this/these articles and can't figure out where in the heck to put the Content-Disposition item you suggest. I'll keep searching, but if anyone know the format of this line and where it goes in the html file I'd appreciate it. The site in question is AtlantisGolfClub.Com . Click on Association->Bylaws and then about half way down (just before Article IV) will be a link to download the membership application. Here is the code I am using....

I am having trouble posting the code so here is a link to the code and you can 'View Page Source' from your browser

    Thanks,
    Reid

    Angry Same Problem

    Hey rcarnes!

It seems that now we are two looking for the same thing!

I've searched in all the internet, and readed that msdn article, and then started to search for javascript code to do that, and found this page.
I've the same problem, in the same situation, a PDF file.

I want to tell you that I haven't found nothing yet, but i'm still searching.

That article of msdn, I think it's talking about the HTTP headers that the server sends to the browser when it asks for a file o webpage. So I think that way of doing that envolves much more the server-side configuration, but no the simple call of the file download dialog box from html / javascript

Anyway, I havent tried that, and I don't know if that code will be ok in the HTML's headers, but in the code you are using, note that a " is missing.

Try that and tell me what happened. I'll be searching and searching, and contact you if found something.

    Good Luck!

Without server-side processing, the only solution I can think of at the moment is to zip the pdf file.
