    Apparently, you aren't supposed to do this! It doesn't work in Firefox, Mozilla, or Netscape. Must be another IE bug...

    a bug ??
    it is not a bug in IE ..with IE you get the size you want

    then the width for input type file isn't yet supported by Mozilla ?

    It works just like any other text box
    Code:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
    <html lang="en">
    	<head>
    		<title>45980</title>
    	</head>
    	<body>
    		<form>
    			<fieldset>
    				<input type="file" size="5">
    			</fieldset>
    		</form>
    	</body>
    </html>
