    Frustrated on font size

    I am battling on a consistency of font size of a banner text for an unexpected long period of time. After I thought this problem was solved, I just found out it is still a problem with different browsers or/and different resolution screen. Since it is on the banner, it is very important as the first impression of the site. Can someone help me out of this frustrated issue.

    The problem is that the banner text is too big for the width and pushed on the line sometimes. It is find with Netscape 7.1 and IE 5 on Window 2000, but not with IE on Window XP same resolution.

    The following is the code I use:

    <div style="position: absolute; left: 0px; top: 0px; width: 70%; padding-left: 6%; padding-top: 2%; color: #A10000; font-weight: bold; font-size: 2.5em;">
    banner text
    </div>
    <div style="z-index: 1; position: absolute; left: 422px; top: 48px; width: 20em; color: #90A9C9; font-size: 1.8em;">
    subtitle
    </div>

    Thanks.

    You should give us a link...my psychic powers have been drained. NS and other browsers allow the user to resize the text...just another problem I suppose. This is what happens when you try to place text on things. I know this sounds nutz...but have you considered just using a image for your banner...and z-indexed positioned text "above" it for the SE's?
    Zoobie or not Zoobie...That is the problem.

    Con't.

    I have tried to have a wider width. It doesn't help.

    An image banner is not an option for my case since it is a multilingual site. The text is shown in different languages based on the accepte-language setting in your browser. It needs more work to have various images for different languages.

    Write a simple example page and host it on one of the multitude of free servers out there. Post that link.
    Check out the Forum Search. It's the short path to getting great results from this forum.

    I had a quick check on any free web hosting server suited this purpose. Without a luck, I didn't find any one.

    On the other hand, the piece of CSS code works by itself. One can copy it into a html file and see how it works.

    I promise I will provide the link of the site once I finish the facelift. That may take a month along with other changes at the site.
