How to create invisible subdirectory links

How might I create a hidden subdirectory link?

Ie: What if I want http://www.netdetectivesoftware.com/netdetective

    to read as

    http://www.netdetectivesoftware.com

    in the browser's status bar?

In case Google penalizes for this, what's a quick easy way to create one in javascript, so that it's unreadable by the search engines?

Why would you need to or want to do this?

Nevertheless, the way to do this would be to use javascript. Not sure on the exact code but it would have to update the status bar on the mouse over.

You can't change the address bar in javascript per se, you'd have to do an actual redirection, and client-side redirections are not really a good idea in general.

But server-side you could do it the other way round - turn
    http://www.netdetectivesoftware.com
into http://www.netdetectivesoftware.com/netdetective without updating the address bar. You could do that with mod_rewrite in Apache.
