    H1 Tag issue - any suggestion to remove them

    Hi Guys, thought I may try this forum and see if someone can help me out. I am by no means a coding expert but can do a little with css if required.

    The problem I have is that my site shows duplicate H1 tags on all pages. I know I need to get them down to one but the them I am using for some reason has 3 per page. There is one in my header logo, one in the page title and one in my post.

    The biggest issue is the one in the logo as I can change the title in my page to H2. I am happy to leave the page title in the grey section H1.

    http://www.inventionsteps.com/manufacturing/

    Oh by the way, the way I knew I needed to fix these H1 tags was when checking SEO on Bing webmaster tools.

    Any thoughts
    thanks

    Not sure exactly what you are hoping for but I took the liberty of copying your code and edited it. I removed the h1 from your logo entirely and then changed the h1 tag in your body to h2 and tested the page. Everything still looks fine on my end. The full html code is too long to post but I would be happy to email the edit to you or you can do the same yourself.

    Thanks for taking a look, I just need to get rid of the h1 tag in the logo. that seems to be the problem. Is it something i can add in the custom css or do I need to edit the theme code?

    You can email me at evault@hotmail.co.uk

    Thanks for taking the time to help.

    Upon a closer look I noticed in my edit that removing the h1 surrounding the logo effect the placement of the logo. I have to look closer at all the coding that effects the placement of the header. Have a project to complete this evening but I will inspect it a little further and see if I can offer a simple solution. Hopefully someone else will check it out too. Should be an easy fix

    Okay, I believe I figured out a simple solution that will preserve you SEO goal.

    I simply changed the h1 surrounding your logo to h2

    Code:
                <!-- LOGO START -->
                <div id="logo" class="grid one-fourth">
                                        <h2 id="site-title"><a href="http://www.inventionsteps.com"><img src="http://www.inventionsteps.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Invention-Steps.png" alt="Invention Steps"></a></h2>
                                </div>
                <!-- LOGO END -->
    and changed line 338 "manufacturing from h1 to h2

    Code:
                                                        <div class="intro clearfix align-left"><h2>Manufacturing your Invention</h2><div class="intro-content">We specialise in manufacturing for small and large volumes</div></div>
    This only leaves one h1 tag surrounding the word "manufacturing" underneath your logo. That is how I would solve this. Hope it helps
