    different in FF and IE8

The site www.spelpro.co.uk appears differently in FF and IE8.
In FF it displays correctly filling the screen with big pictures. The pictures also have a hover grey background with white text.

In IE8, the screen width is not used 100% and the pictures do not have a hover grey background.

Any ideas how I can fix this? Do I need a CSS hack or something?

I'm not seeing the screen at 100% in either firefox or IE. As to the hover background, I think this is because you're using rgba colors for .home_post_desc, which are not supported in ie8. You probably want to put a fallback color definition in there, or the MS-specific filter for opacity.
