    padding not taking effect

    On this website, the footer navigation has a padding of 2% 2.5%.

    However, the actual top-padding is not pushing the A text downwards.



    Why is this?

    Because the <a> element is an inline, not block element.
    One solution is to set display:inline-block on #footernav ul li a
    Use the W3C HTML Validator and CSS Validator to check your code and Firebug to see what css is applied to an element
