    Question HTML Signature for Gmail help with Image linking

    Hi,

    I am trying to make a professional looking html signature for us at a boat shop here in Ventura, CA. I am a bit of a webdesign noobie. I have found Gmail to not work with CSS, so I have built the signature using a html table. I have the website and facebook icon links, but they aren't working. Everything works but the two picture links at the bottom. Can someone please help me make these work?

    Code:
    <body>
    <table width="638" border="0" background="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3704/9326490281_25b32a2f1d_b.jpg" cellpadding="0">
      <tr>
        <td colspan="4"><font color="#000066" face="Eras Bold ITC" size="+1"> Brently Dunivant - Sales</font></td>
      </tr>
      <tr>
        <td colspan="4"><font color="#000066" face="Eras Medium ITC"> 805-644-6290 x107 </font></td>
      </tr>
      <tr>
        <td height="25" colspan="4" valign="bottom"><font color="#990000" face="Eras Bold ITC" size="+1"><a style="color: #990000" href="http://www.inflatableboats.net">Inflatable Boat Specialists</a></font></td>
      </tr>
      <tr>
        <td colspan="4"><font color="#990000" face="Eras Medium ITC"><a style="color: #990000" href="http://mapq.st/12W2mxT">2900 Golf Course Drive<br> Ventura, CA 93003</a></font></td>
      </tr>
      <tr>
        <td width="61" height="34" style="background:url(http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5546/9326490245_3d60f2d0d9_b.jpg) no-repeat"> <a href="http://www.inflatableboats.net"></a> </td>
        <td width="37" style="background:url(http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3669/9329283780_0c5875337c_b.jpg) no-repeat" ><a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Inflatable-Boat-Specialists/125914447464451?ref=br_rs"></a></td>
        <td width="6" valign="bottom">&nbsp;</td>
        <td width="524" valign="bottom"><em><font color="#000066" face="Eras Medium ITC">Local business since 1976!</font></em></td>
      </tr>
    </table>

    </body>
    </html>

    I followed the links, and the site says those images aren't available. Perhaps you should upload them somewhere else.

    Hi BoatsDunivant,

    As Custard7A indicated, your images link to unavailable images. But i think the problem you're finding is that your links don't really connect to the <td> tag as the images are just the background.

    i think what you can do to allow for your image to show as a link is to change your <td> by removing the background style and adding in an <img> tag and if you want the entire <td> to act as a link you can add the style="display:block" and you can add in the margin to adjust where you want your image to show up in the <td> element.

    Here is an example:
    Code:
    <td width="61" height="34"><a href="http://www.inflatableboats.net"><img src='smiley.gif' style="display:block; margin-left:10px;"/></a>
    </td>
    just change the src of your <img> to "http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5546/9326490245_3d60f2d0d9_b.jpg" once you get this fixed

    hope this helps
