W3schools is the best online tutorial site for learning html. I think it takes you only one week to learn html, becoming perfect in it depends on how much you do practice. Your perfection will continuously increase with practice. The first rule to become expert in html is that apply practically what you have learned.

I do agree with AnnaMaria that W3Schools.com is indeed a great learning resource for HTML.

Other sites you can check out are listed below, these are other good resources:

One of best way of learning online is via using google search. you can easily search for the codes you need for an issue you're having. But of course, trial and error will be present.

And why not other search engines? What makes this one so special? Or is that the only one you know because “everybody uses it”? How about https://duckduckgo.com/goodies ?

All the knowledge in the world isn't stored at any one site (except this one of course :P) and by searching you will find many unique solutions to problems. However, people don't realize sometimes it may take 15 minutes of searching and related link following *gasp* to find something!!! You can't expect your answer to be in the top 5 results every time.

PHP Tip: If you want to use short tags (<? or <?=$var) then make sure short_open_tag is set to "1". It really helps.
