    what is this code?

    While checking out the message source of an email I ran across this in the html.

    <!--
    NQPAUPOFHP--DRMHDARBRX--CYVYPTJXCT--LPLBRITGNB--XRVKBYMTAE--TEERFVLQTP--LHFWJAHFIV--IHPERSFHOF--LILRDRNOIK--HVROSDOBIX--
    -->

    There were like 6 of these blocks and the result showed images and text.
    No standard stuff as you would see on normal pages, just this weird code.

    How does it work and where is documentation for it?

    It is a comment. What it means depends on where it came from.

    Was it an email you were sending? Is it an email you received? Was the email personalized? It could be a simple tracking method for the sender. You'll find that quite a bit if you look deep into emails that were sent from clients like ExactTarget, ect. On occasion they like placing random snippets. Usually serves some purpose.
