    Adjusting text

    I have a menu bar that has a word " Choose Province". I'm trying to vertically center. I have it to the left like i want, but in opera browser the word is at the bottom and in firefox it's pushed to the top. Why is that.

    Code:
    select {
    	width: 200px;
    	height: 30px;
    	font-size:12px;
    }
    Code:
    <table width="35%" border="0" align="left" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">

            <tr>

              <td width="33%"><div align="center">
                <h2>Province</h2>
              </div></td>

            </tr>

            <tr>

              <td><div align="center">

    		  <select name="select" onchange="MM_jumpMenu('parent',this,0)">

                    <option value="" selected> CHOOSE PROVINCE </option>

                    <option value="#">Alberta</option>

                    <option value="#">British Columbia</option>

    				<option value="#">Manitoba</option>

                    <option value="s#">New Brunswick</option>

                    <option value="#">Newfoundland</option>

                    <option value="#">Northwest Territories</option>

                    <option value="#">Nova Scotia</option>

                    <option value="#">Nunavut</option>

                    <option value="#">Ontario</option>

                    <option value="#">Prince Edward Island</option>

    				<option value="#">Quebec</option>

                    <option value="#">Saskatchewan</option>

                    <option value="#">Yukon Territory</option>

              </select></div></td>
    </table>    </td>
    <div align="right">
    <table width="430" height="140" border="1">
      <tr>
        <td><img src="images/advertisement.png" width="429" height="139" alt="Advertisement banner"></td>
      </tr>
    </table>
    </div>

    Good morning charisma44,
    line-height might be what you want to use here in place of height.
    Validate often DURING development - Use it like a splelchecker | Debug during Development |Write it for FireFox, ignore IE
    Use the right DocType | Validate your markup | Validate your CSS | Why validating is good | Why tables are bad

    It made my box smaller. I need to have control of the size and alignment of the text. Box needs to be bigger.

    It doesn't have to be 30px; ...try line-height: 50px;
