    What are the Special Tags in WYSIWIG eidtors Called

    In most WYSIWIG editors including this one if you put a [code] or [icode] tag around text the editor will generate special formating for the text inside those tags and I was just wondering what are these tags called?

    Thanks

    They are knows as BBCode tags. They will be parsed to produce their equivalent HTML tags with styles before getting printed on the pages.

    For example, [CODE]Text[/CODE] will be converted to
    Code:
    <pre style="
    		margin: 0px;
    		padding: 6px;
    		border: 1px inset;
    		width: 750px;
    		height: 34px;
    		text-align: left;
    		overflow: auto" dir="ltr" class="alt2">Text</pre>
