    empty-cells:hide

    I have the following table:-

    Code:
    table.traders3 {table-layout:fixed; text-align:center; width:72%; font-size:10.5pt; margin:0 auto; empty-cells:hide;}
    Certain cells are empty. When I view the page in IE8 offline (locally) the empty cells are hidden, but when I view exactly the same page online the background to the hidden cells shows. It works corrrectly in Chrome. Is this an IE bug of some kind, but why the difference local/online?

    All the code given in this post has been tested and is intended to address the question asked.
    Unless stated otherwise it is not just a demonstration.

    I am using IE 9.0.3 (not IE8) But when I change the browser mode to IE8 everything works correctly.

    Odd, just tried it in IE9.0.8 and it's OK - no empty cells showing. (Using W7 Home Premium on that computer)
