    Question on index.html

    What is considered as being the best practice for placing the homepage -

    What I mean is that I have always had folders outside the index.html page, so in other words:

    <folder: images>
    <folder: css>
    <folder: javascript>
    <folder: pages>
    and outside
    index.html

    I notice that some people have www and then place the index.html there....

    Thanks

    For images, css, and javascript, sure. But if you were to put other pages in their own folder every link on your site would be something like site.com/pages/page.html which would be weird.

    It is good for images, css, and javascript.

    And if you have general category for some topic then you can go for directory structure and then no. of pages in that directory.
