    text-align:center in IE8

    I have a simple question.

    I have a "DIV" that contains a dynamic image that loads. I have text-align:center but it won't work. I can easily set a margin to the image using "If Statements", but i want to know why this will not work in IE8.

    I even changed the the doctype. Nothing seems to work.

    CSS:

    Code:
    .featured_wrap {
    width: 617px;
    height: 396px;
    /*background-color: black;*/
    padding: 5px 0px 0px 0px;
    display: table-cell;
    text-align: center;
    vertical-align: middle;
    }

    #iSlideShell { width: 25px; height: 370px; position: relative; z-index: 4; }
    #iSlideShell img { position: absolute; z-index: 5; }
    HTML:

    Code:
    <div class="featured_wrap">
    	<div id="iSlideShell">
    		<span></span><img id="iSlideBack" src="<?= $prop1; ?>" alt="..." />
    		<span></span><img id="iSlideFront" src="<?= $prop1; ?>" alt="..." />
    		</div>
    		</div>

    Have you tried removing the position property?
