    Navigation buttons on background image - IE problem

    I want to be able to put my navigation buttons (these are images) on top of an image background. It works well on firefox, but not on internet explorer. On IE, the back ground image does not appear on the site

    Could someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong. here are my codes

    CSS:

    #container
    {

    background:url(images/bgbanner.png};
    color:#000;
    position:relative;
    }

    }
    #navbar{

    list-style: none; /*removes the underline below the link*/
    padding:0; /*removes the padding*/
    height:200px;
    }

    #navbar li

    {
    float: left; /*this makes the element displays in a horizontal line*/
    margin: 0px 0px 0px 5px;
    padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px;
    cursor: pointer;
    }

    html:

    <div id="container">
    <ul id="navbar">
    <li> <a href="#"><img src="images/home.png" alt="Home"/></a></li>
    <li> <a href="#"><img src="images/about.png" alt="about"/></a></li>
    <li> <a href="#"><img src="images/resource.png" alt="Resources"/></a></li>
    <li> <a href="#"><img src="imagescontactus.png" alt="Contact us"/></a></li>
    </ul>
    </div

    background:url(images/bgbanner.png};

    is either a typo or error? The } would cut of the rest of the function making it invalid.

    You should have it like:
    background: #000 url('images/bgbanner.png');

    You have 'position:relative;' but don't seem to be using it at all?

    '</div' at the end of the html is cut too, maybe just another typo.
