    meta data - description.

    I just added a meta description, and while it shows up as the first thing in google, there is still random text from my website after that.

    is there a way to make the description in google, exclusively what is in the meta description?

    make sense?>

    I'm no SEO expert, but from my understanding Google will index your page based document title first, then on headings (h1, h2, h3, etc.), and then on content. Meta data is somewhere down the road past all of this I think.

    I may have the order wrong above, but the point is that Google saw the widespread abuse of meta tags and effectively stopped using them because of it. I don't think you will ever get Google's results to show JUST your meta data.

    It's usually a good idea to start out with this at the VERY TOP of your CSS: * {border:0;margin:0;padding:0;}

    for me, its title, meta description, then text pulled from the body.

    it would be great to eliminate the text from the body

    Yes, meta description is the first thing after the title that is displayed in search results at Google. However, I suspect what shows up below the title in the search results depends on the search terms you use for your search. If a keyword appears in the description and in the content Google may display an excerpt of the content, too. I guess there’s nothing you can do about it (and I see no reason why you would want to anyway).
