    Time For a Table

    Hi,

Would this Link Markup be better served inside a table with headers?

I've shied from tables for layout to the point of being unsure
    when they are needed.

Those links are fine just as they are. You are using semantic coding which is good. Keep the lists.

Wholeheartedly embrace standards, but the link list just seemed like something that should be presented in table.

Perhaps if the it was a name/value relationship I would not be confused:

    Site Name: Number of Visitors:
    http://somename.com 50

The above example, should be tabular.

    Lists.

and add overflow:auto to the containing div to clear the floats.

This was my first post, and am very pleased with the quality of replies.

I've penned a rule of thumb regarding tables. If I where to place the data in EXCEL, then it should be in a table. I would not markup a list in EXCEL, so therefore no table for the link list.

I agree with some of it. I think the descriptions table is kind of pushing it. I think in your case if those weren't likes and rather they were describing category then a table might be okay.
