    how to fix this?

    when I embed the flash movie clip using <object> tag, it hides the menu bar even though the menu bar comes later in the html page.
    what I know, an element always appears above the one comes before it.
    but in my case the flash movie container(<object>) hides the menu bar while it comes before the menu bar in HTML code.

    how can I make the menu bar appears above the flash movie container?

    I wouldn't even use the <object> tag.

    Download SWFOBJECT and use it. Far superior method, and much easier to use.

    You're code would then look like this:

    Code:
    <body>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="swfobject.js"></script>
    <div id="wrapper">
      <div id="flashvideo">
        <p>None Flash-enabled browsers see what's here!</p>
      </div>
      <script type="text/javascript">
       	var so = new SWFObject("moviename.swf", "mymovie", "800", "150", "7", "#0066cc");
       	so.write("flashvideo");
    	</script>
      <div id="nav">
        <ul>
          <li><a href="index.html">Home</a></li>
          <li><a href="page1.html">Page1</a></li>
          <li><a href="page2.html">Page2</a></li>
          <li><a href="page3.html">Page3</a></li>
        </ul>
      </div>
      <div id="main">
        <h1>Heading</h1>
        <p>Some content.</p>
        <p>Some content.</p>
      </div>
    </div>
    <div id="footer">
      <p>Footer Stuff</p>
    </div>
    </body>
