    Exclamation Why is the tail of the letter Y missng from the header. IE8

    I have modified my home sites entry page to use some of the latest css. I am quite happy with it in general, but I wonder what is responsible for the truncating of the tail of the letter "y" in the header.

    Any help appreciated.

    The whole site is under review. I know that it needs a lot of attention.
    Comments always welcome. I have very little artistic skill.

    Most probably due to the small height.
    Code:
    p#ie-and-safari-only {/*exitfegs.co.uk (line 177)*/
    height:1em;
    text-shadow:#666666 5px 5px 5px;
    }
    Just remove the height and allow users/browsers to resize the text, when required.

    Have you checked the site in FF(2)?

    Hmm. It seems to have something to do with the filter but I'm not quite sure why yet...

    Edit: It is this filter in particular that breaks it for me (on IE7):
    Code:
    filter: Shadow(Color=#666666, Direction=135, Strength=5);

    It's usually a good idea to start out with this at the VERY TOP of your CSS: * {border:0;margin:0;padding:0;}

    I added some padding to p#ie-and-safari-only and it fixed the issue.

    hey, it works to save a screen shot of the firefox output and then use an image with the shadows.

    lose the filter thing and replace this and you're done.
    <p class="shadowed" id="ie-and-safari-only"><img src="http://i39.tinypic.com/5mwwtf.jpg"> </p>

    You might want to save the image to your server.

    My thanks to you all.

    I have put the header in as a jpeg as suggested by Tinyscript. View the result here.
