    <a> under different id's

    Hello,
    I'm knocking my head against this, and feel like I've done it a thousand times and should be easy.

    A style (a background-image) I specify for <a> tags under one id is applying itself to all previous <a> tags.

    When you go to the site, the center column is full of jumbled links, if you click on the first one it will take you to dj.html, there the back button link in the right column is the one infecting the first page

    The link for the site is:
    http://bradnagle.com/streetside/

    The relevant lines of code:
    /index.html
    line 37

    /dj.html
    line 47

    /style.css
    lines: 92, 102, 182, 191

    ***Thanks in advance for any help***

    Hello bnagle,
    Could this be the source of your problem -
    Code:
    .back a, a:visited, a:active{
    	float:left;
    	width:225px;
    	height:21px;
    	margin-top:8px;
    	border:0px;
    	background-image:url(back.gif);
    	}
    Make that bit look like this and see how it works -
    Code:
    .back a, a:active{
    	float:left;
    	width:225px;
    	height:21px;
    	margin-top:8px;
    	border:0px;
    	background-image:url(back.gif);
    	}
    Validate often DURING development - Use it like a splelchecker | Debug during Development |Write it for FireFox, ignore IE
    Use the right DocType | Validate your markup | Validate your CSS | Why validating is good | Why tables are bad
