<br /> causing errors in validation

Hi, Just wondering how I can correct my code to get rid of following validation errors relating to my use of the <br /> tag..

    http://validator.w3.org/check?verbos...igtimes.com%2F

basically I want to be able to add blank lines for spacing. Can I use something else other than <br />

A better way is to use CSS margins. But if you're set on using line breaks temporarily, use <br> without the self-closing /. Your DOCTYPE specifies HTML, where tags don't have to be closed, whereas with XHTML they do.
