Unique problem with background image & tabs.

Okay. I dunno how to explain this so I'll start from the beginning. I also don't know if this should be in the Java forum or html/css forum seeing as how the problem is a direct result of using the two simultaneously.

Here's the page I'm working on.
    http://www.embracingfate.com/demo/index5.html

So I wanted a background image that resized automatically with the browser window. I found a javascript for it and installed it. This is where I went.
    http://www.boutell.com/newfaq/creati...roundfill.html
    It worked fine.

I wanted to use a tabbed layout for my page, so I went to this address:
    http://www.barelyfitz.com/projects/tabber/
and I installed that stuff. It worked fine, except for some reason it temporarily erases the background image.

By temporarily, I mean that if you load the page up, the background image will not display, however if you resize your browser window it'll show up. Which just seems creepy. I've tested this in IE7 and Google Chrome. No idea what effects it might have on other browsers...

Essentially my goal is to have a website that completely resizes with your browser window so it'd work on virtually any resolution by resizing with percentages. Thus the resizing background image and resizing tabbed layout.

So, what is the problem that is preventing the image from loading up with the rest of the page and instead delaying it until you resize the browser? I'm brand new to css and java and stuff so I'm completely clueless. I'm used to basic html so please go easy on me.

    Hello kainvinosec,
Here's a demo of the no js method to get a resizing background. It CSS only - http://nopeople.com/CSS/background_i...ize/index.html

By temporarily, I mean that if you load the page up, the background image will not display, however if you resize your browser window it'll show up. Which just seems creepy. I've tested this in IE7 and Google Chrome. No idea what effects it might have on other browsers...
Yeah, doing the same thing if FF3.

Not sure what's causing your problem though...
Validate often DURING development - Use it like a splelchecker | Debug during Development |Write it for FireFox, ignore IE
Use the right DocType | Validate your markup | Validate your CSS | Why validating is good | Why tables are bad

Thank you! That link gave me pretty much everything I was missing. Now the only problem is that I can't make the tabs load before the background so there's a second-long delay before the content loads (but compared to what it was doing before I fixed that (loading the background and the content without the tabs first, then loading the tabs) it isn't that big of a problem). The whole page pretty much resizes as I'd hoped it would now. Thank you so much.
