    Exclamation Unexpected behaviour. What is wrong? Was OK.

    This page is my site's index page and has suddenly become weiird. It has scroll bars which it used not to have, and yet does not scroll properly.

    Also my IE7 has stopped working.

    Any help gladly received. It's been one of those weeks.

    Thanks, Abduraooft.

    I have done that and taken out the fixed background, but the result is not satisfactory. I don't want a scroll, but if is is necessary, then I want the whole to act as one.

    Any further ideas would be nice. My mind is behaving like a wad of sludge at present. I must get more sleep. I have no idea how this started, Suddenly I found the index page like this. It has been OK for ages. Must have got corrupted somehow. Weird, innit!

    CSS now in the <head>

    How about
    Code:
    body {/*website.css (line 92)*/
    /*background-attachment:fixed;*/
    background-image:url(59.jpg);
    background-position:center;
    background-repeat:no-repeat;
    overflow-x:auto;
    /*overflow-y:hidden;*/
    }
    #content {website.css (line 127)
    background-color:#330000;
    clear:both;
    float:left;
    font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;
    font-size:11px;
    font-size-adjust:none;
    font-stretch:normal;
    font-style:normal;
    font-variant:normal;
    font-weight:normal;
    line-height:normal;
    /*margin:8.5% 0pt 0pt 0.3%;
    padding:5px;*/
    text-align:left;
    text-decoration:none;
    width:18%;
    }
    ?

    What type of layout were you trying to achieve? Here is something you might like.
    Code:

    My thanks to you both. I have adopted Aero's solution as it is what I want plus it has cleaned up the whole code.

    This week I have needed to re-instal Home premium on my laptop with all that entails. IE7 has ceased to work on my PC and I have had to install IE8 in order to get on line.
    Why this page suddenly went wrong I don't know. I sometimes wonder whether the defraggers cause some of the problems. But this page was too weird for that and it still worked. My poor vision is probably some of the trouble.

    Thanks again.
