Best methods of emailing a form from a webpage?

I would like to add a "contact me" facility to my site, just the norm, where the user enters name, email address, subject etc etc into a form and clicks the submit button.

It has been several years since I last used such a form (which if I remember correctly was cgi(?) or pearl?) and I want to know what are the latest up-to-date methods of sending forms to an email address if any.

I also would like to know if I should use the method where the user has to enter a validation code to prove they are not spammers.

If anyone can help me out with suggestions then that would be really kind of you!

easily done with asp or php.

The validation code is known as "captcha" and is a good way of stopping automated spammers. Read more at ... captcha wiki

For the form, find your way over the php forums in here and some folk will sort you out there

Very interesting. I took down my forum (phpBB) because the "security" was totally worthless and I was getting 100-200 spam postings a day. Useless to ban the id as they just keep creating new ones.

Use the following site to make a PHP feedback form. Two files minimum: the *.php and the *.html files. Three if you wish to add a "Thank You" page. The contact HTML file is customized to fit your site's layout.

Just follow the instructions carefully and you'll have a fully working "Contact Me" page.
