    div sections ok in Firefox, but not in IE

    Hi there. I found this forum on Google. Wish I had earlier!

    I am having a real problem with IE. I personally use Firefox, but I test updates to my site in both browsers cuz I know a lot of folks are visiting using IE. I can this through my statcounter account.

    The main problem I have is illustrated in the snapshots below...I thought this would be the easiest way to show this very annoying problem lol.

    First is the shot in Firefox. Navigation bar is "hovered" over the page and align more to the left, allowing the div sections to the right to "fit" inside the browser window (i use 1024x768 res.)......

    Now, next a shot of the site in IE. The navigation bar seems to be positioned a little farther right, and I suspect this is causing the other div section to be pushed down to the bottom of the page. This is bad, especially for advertising reasons.

    Can anyone help me get this right so it looks the same in IE as it does in Firefox? Unfortunately this has plagued me for quite some time. TIA

    is there any way we can see the code pertaining to those divs, because it looks like it might be a padding or margin problem or possibly a position thing

    hmmmm...I just checked in IE7 and it seems to be looking ok now. I had tested in IE6 earlier and that's where I got the IE screenshot. IE7 was looking poopy too last time I checked. I don't recall messing with any of the div tags or sections, I just added an event update. But I'll be damned, it looks fine in IE7 now lol

    Sorry bout that, big snow storm here. Finally got back to work here on the 'net lol.

    Yes, the only remaining problem I am having in IE7 is somehow the dreaded "red X's" are showing up on my forums portal page. Here is a shot from Firefox and a shot from IE7......

    Firefox - Everything is fine. No "missing image" X's...

    IE7 - Red X's, as if there images missing. I know of no images that are in these places. I can't figure out what IE7 can't "see" here...maybe it's some code?

    right click on them, and "view image" if you can...if not, right click, press properties, and see what it's location is...that might help you figure out what it is at least

    Check your browser settings in IE
    Tools->Internet Options-> Advanced-> Multimedia -> Show Pictures (check this box)

    Ok, I checked that stuff. It's all good. I got the Nav bar image thing fixed, and that's cleared up in IE7. Now its the red X at the top of the welcome box. I believe I have tracked it down to this code...

    <thead>
    <tr>
    <td class="tcat">
    <a style="float:$stylevar[right]" href="#top" onclick="return toggle_collapse(\'MMwelcome\')"><img id="collapseimg_MMwelcome"

    src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/collapse_tcat$collapseimg_MMwelcome.gif" alt="" border="0" /></a>
    <span class="smallfont"><strong>The Marsh Marauders / NHsportsman.com planned events</strong></span></td>
    </tr>
    </thead>

    IE7 is not liking that line in bold.

    Well, probably, yeah. I'm guessing this is PHP...before parsing? How about giving it to us after it's been parsed?
