    CSS Affecting Unwanted Items

I've got my CSS up and running pretty good, but I can't figure out why its affecting the horizontal bar divider i have. When you adjust the size of the font using the CSS on the live page, the bar moves up and down with the text, which it shouldn't be doing. I've tried rearranging the code but I apparently am not doing that right b/c it screws the whole thing up. I've uploaded a sample page to http://www.classicmonkeyshine.net/mission.html so you can see what I mean. Below is HTML, you can see the CSS by going here -- http://leadctr.com/templates/js_elem...mplate_css.css Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    HI and welcome to CF.

You have a few validation issues which, really, need to be resolved before any attempt by your or us, can actually fix your problem.

    check out validator.w3.org

oh yeh - befoe someone else mentions it, edit you post and put the html inside [ c o d e ] stuff here [ / c o d e ] tags (without the spaces).

    bazz

btw, I do like your header. fresh looking, clean, straightforward but also, distinct.

Bazz, you are lucky. I can get nothing recognisable with IE7.
Just a blue rectangle which is not very stable.

Heh heh. Thats why I dont use IE7. I only use MSIE for testing. Funny thing is though, when he put up that other link, supposedly I think, to let you see his header - I couldn't see it.

I think that was caused by validation issues.

Generally speaking I don't use the most up to date technology. Things these days seem to be rolled out to the 'market' long before they have been tested properly. In fact,I would suggest, that the people who do buy the latest stuff are in fact the testers. I refuse to pay for a product which I then have either, to test or, wait until others have fixed it.

I'm just about to remove Vista Business and install Home Premium. That is supposing that I can find some way to remove the Business edition. MS will not allow one to downgrade for some reason only known to Bill Gates.

Oh for the heady days of Windows 3.1!

When I have re-installed a windows, I just put in the disk and let it overwrite whatever was on the HDD. Just make sure you have all your data backed up first or it will vanish.
I lost all but 3 of my family emigration photographs I hadn't backed up before the pc went poof. Its never run the same since

Generally speaking I don't use the most up to date technology. Things these days seem to be rolled out to the 'market' long before they have been tested properly. In fact,I would suggest, that the people who do buy the latest stuff are in fact the testers. I refuse to pay for a product which I then have either, to test or, wait until others have fixed it.
there is no test stage now, because increase the cost of the product and delay the moment of delivery to the market, the "modern way" is to launch as beta, wait for user complains and fix.

    best regards
