    two column page

    I'm trying to display a page with 2 columns, 1 left, 1 right. The right column is fixed. It shows well in both firefox and IE 6.0..however, there aint a visible scrollbar when I view it in IE 6.0. I don't have a clue how to show the scrollbar (at the right side of the browser), so if anyone can help me?
    I hope the coding is cross-browser?

    my html code:
    <!-- IE in quirks mode -->
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

    <style type="text/css">
    <!--
    @import "fixed2.css";
    -->
    </style>
    </head>

    <body>

    <div id="kolom_rechts">RECHTER KOLOM</div>

    <tip type="Horizontal scrollbars in IE6 Framesets" author="Mark Howells">
    Problem: A horizontal scrollbar always appears in an inner frame page when
    using IE6 to view your page.
    Solution: use scrolling="yes" instead of scrolling="auto" in the appropriate
    frame declaration.

    How? The position:fixed property doesn't work in IE.

    You have some major markup errors.
    1)From where you've got the <!-- IE in quirks mode --> as your fisrt line. Anyway remove this.
    2) You have no <head> opening tag before <style>
    3)Look at the end, missed </body></html>

    try setting {height: 100.1%} on the div to force the scrollbars

    And why do you want Quirks mode? It is somewhat unpredictable and, for consistent presentation cross Browser, a real Doctype is recommended..
