    Font question

    I would like to use a font called Baskerville, this is not a default font found on the system. Do this mean that if a person is looking at my website and doesnt have that font installed the font will be replaced by a default system font like geneva or other? are they solution for this special fonts?(aside from using images...)

    Yes, that's right. In CSS you can also define the alternate fonts:

    Code:
    font-family: "Lucida Grande", helvetica, arial, sans-serif;
    In this case, if Lucida Grande isn't available the browser will try Helvetica, then Arial, and finally, the browser's default sans-serif font.

    You can also use SIFR, which uses Flash and Javascript to dynamically replace fonts with Flash substitutes. It's very slick and stays accessible as well, although it can get resource-intensive if you overdo it. I use it on my personal site (to use ITC Kabel for headlines) as well as a lot of others.

    Hope this helps…

    Essentially you load up your font a Flash movie, include the SIFR .js and .swf, and add extra rules in your CSS. The documentation and FAQs are here:
