How do I make a link for down loading a file?

Hi, how do I make a link that when clicked, downloads a pdf. file to the users machine? (After asking them, of course )
    Thanks, Jakebushnell@aol.com

    Hello Jacob,

no problem. All of us has been newbies, thus we also know there are no stupid questions or problems. So feel free to ask, but also remember to read rules and guidelines of CodingForums.

There are lots of tutorials in web where to find answers to many questions. I'll post few of them to here :

All what happens is it opens the pdf file using my acrobat reader. I want to be able to down load it to my HD with out bringing it up on the screen, kinda like when you download an exe.
Heres the URL if you want to check it out: http://www.nathhan.com/downloads.htm
    Thanks again, Jakebushnell@aol.com

you'd have to zip the file (using winzip or whatever) and then give instructions to unzip the file and open it.
