Advice for my web site on two Items

    Hi all!

I have a very basic web site (see link in my sig), and I would like to do two things to it but I will need some advice on how to do it, and such...

The first thing I would like to do is have the index page resize automatically to always fill up a users screen if you know what I mean....and the second on my list would be to on the right side quardrant on the index page to have a type of random picture rotator or news items that will change every 3 seconds or so....

Thanks a lot for any advice!

    Rob

    Random Image rotator

    Hi rob,

I go for your second question. Also my answer will be with php scripts and i thought it may help u anyway.. I had done the same thing like displaying the random image and rotating it in a fixed length of time.

But its with the php scrips. Let me give you the link where i used to do it... Just follow the link or search for what exactly you searching for

    http://www.hscripts.com/scripts/php/imageRotate.php

Just get me back with your opinion... Hope it helped you somehow.

For your first problem use percents for your width
100% width will fill up your whole page

I don't think it is a good idea to have the browser window resize and fill up the screen. Personally, I hate that and I will leave any site that does that.

Thanks, I am going to look into that site. I like PHP, just learning it now and I have a form that I am using with PHP that I just made.

I will give that a try. Most sites do seem to open up 100% though I thought I read once that if some people have smaller monitors or older systems by not using a percentage they may have trouble or is it that max. pics need to be 600pixs or so??. Though that might be not an issue now a days with more modern web coding..any ideas on this??

Maybe I am not explaning my question correctly, here is two examples of what I mean, the first link is a home page that is conservative in size to fit most smaller monitors no pics over 600pix, the second test page is expanding this to 100% but if I do this to take advantage of more room for a larger monitor then I need some guide lines, don't I??

    My Original Way

    -or-

New way 100% though still in test mode here

Let me know what you think.

    Thanks!
