    Simple hr validation error for xhtml 1.0 strict

    I keep getting this
    Error Line 15 column 4: document type does not allow element "hr" here; missing one of "object", "applet", "map", "iframe", "button", "ins", "del" start-tag.

    <hr/>
    the url is www.awsomejoe23.com/gg/index.html
    why isn't the hr validating? Is there something wrong with my doc type? which one should I get?

    Thanks,

    Joe

    I suppose hr isnít allowed within font. Why are you using the deprecated font element anyway? Is it an editor in a CMS that is producing it? If not and you have the control over it then I would suggest removing it and using CSS to style the text.

    Also you should always use a strict doctype because I guess youíre not transitioning from old, non-standard code? An exception is if you have a CMS with an editor that is producing bad code (which most of them do, unfortunately).
