    Exclamation Validator does not like this. Program likes it!

    This is a small part of my index page. (obviously) My Validator ; (CSE HTML Validator v8.0) does not like the !--, but when I remove them I get a script error. Can anyone help me to resolve this please.

    <span id="greet">

    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!-- Begin
    greet();
    // End -->
    </script>

    There is no need for that comment any longer - it's a backward compatibility things that was hardly necessary even in the days of Netscape 2.

    Just get rid of it:
    Code:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    greet();
    </script>

    Many thanks. I was not removing enough of the code.
    Now works fine.
