    hover and span issues

    Good day,

    I am having issues working with hover and span. In Opera, this works fine, but in IE it does now. I have read that IE does not support hover on anything but the <a> tag, so I tried to convert my code to using an <a> around the <span>, however it broke the Opera funcionality too.

    Below is the cut down version of the code:

    Code:
    .item_picmenu_item:hover{z-index:25; background-color:#ff0}

    .item_picmenu_item span{display: none}

    .item_picmenu_item:hover span{
        display:block;
        position:absolute;
        top:2em; left:2em; width:15em;
        border:1px solid #0cf;
        background-color:#cff; color:#000;
        text-align: center
    }
    I simply added a after the .item_picmenu_item part and that broke it. It looked like this:

    Code:
    .item_picmenu_item a:hover{z-index:25; background-color:#ff0}

    .item_picmenu_item a span{display: none}

    .item_picmenu_item a:hover span{
    Any input or another way of doing this. I am trying to display like a tooltip over pictures when a user hovers over the picture. The tooltip will have a picture and words in it. Like I said, it works well in Opera but IE fails, trying to make it browser compadible now. Hope I can or I will have to re-design.

    Thanks in advance.
