    fluid layout- things to keep in mind

    I'm going to convert my current quasi 2 column fixed layout (it's not really 2 columns, one of them is just the background of the container DIV) to a 2 column fluid (REAL 2 columns), so what should be things that I should keep in mind, like:
    everything in percentages (including fonts). What about paddings/margins? them too? I suppose horizontal paddings and margins should be in percentages, maybe the only vertical element that's in pixels is the font size? This would exclude my header text since the header has a BG image over a BG color (fixed height). Did I miss something? Did I say something that could be done better?

    Most of the time a fluid layout has a fixed width sidebar floated to either side with the content having a left or right margin to keep it from going behind the sidebar. You won't really use any percentages. Maybe in font size but for that I recommend em. Here is a good example of what I'm talking about
