    New at html - Appear a minimal html example

    Good morning!

    Merry Christmas to everyone!

    I'm new at html and I'm trying to appear an html example using a browser.

    I use Windows XP Professional and inside the Local Disk (C i have created a text document named Example.html and i have written inside it :

    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <TITLE> Title of my page
    </TITLE>
    </HEAD>
    <BODY>
    Merry Christmas!!!
    </BODY>
    </HTML>

    Then i open a web browser e.g. microsoft explorer or mozilla
    I type on the address bar C:\Example.html

    And a small window appears saying: Windows cannot find 'C:\Example.html'.Check the spelling and try again.

    Then if i type on the address bar C:\Example.html.txt it shows all the code of the file Example.html

    What shall i do in order to get->> Merry Christmas!!! <<- in the browser?

    Thanks, in advance!!!

    I thought with Firefox you had to use file:/// in front of anything stored on your hard drive. When I try to just do C:/, it returns "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (c) isn't associated with any program."
