    problem with frames

    Hey guys, I'm having a problem with my frames. If you go to my site freewebs.com/cashmoney805 you'll see that when you run your mouse over the tbf in the middle that a zoom button appears. Why is this? I have all the borders set to 0 and everything. You can view the page source if you want and please tell me what I'm doing wrong. Thanks.

    Try setting margin:0px; to the body of your framed pages

    ammendment:

    try to keep your styles in an external stylesheet where possible, it'll make it easier to solve problems later believe me.

    also try adding a doctype to your pages as this has an impact on how the browser interprets
    your code.

    read the learn css section at w3schools for some good info

    yea I do everything in notepad and then just copy and paste it into the site manager. I'm pretty new at HTML so what is a Doctype? And why do you recommend the CSS section, isn't it HTML? Oh yea, and the margin="0" didn't work. Thanks for the help though.

    Thumbs up

    This is the w3schools definition:

    Definition and Usage

    The <!DOCTYPE> declaration is the very first thing in your document, before the <html> tag. This tag tells the browser which HTML or XHTML specification the document uses.
    Basically if you don't use a doctype ie will enter quirks mode which is not good because it does weird things when displaying elements...

    I recommend reading through the css and html sections of w3schools.com before continuing with your project at least, it only takes 20 mins and is invaluable as a resource for learning and reference :>

    okay here's a version of your site done using css without the frame

    Index.html
    Code:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Example css layout</title>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
    <link href="style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
    </head>
    <body>
    <div id="wrapper">
    	<div id="top"></div>
    	<div id="left"></div>
    	<div id="mid"></div>
    	<div id="right"></div>
    	<div id="btmleft"><a href="http://www.freewebs.com/cashmoney805/1.htm"></a></div>
    	<div id="btmright"></div>
    </div>
    </body>
    </html>
    style.css
    Code:
    body{
    	margin:0px;
    	padding:0px;
    }

    #wrapper{
    	margin:0px auto;
    	/* short-hand declaration:- margin: (top & bottom value) (left & right value); This will center your page */
    	width:499px;
    	height:auto;
    }

    #top{
    	background-image:url(http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y132/cashmoney805/1-1.gif);
    	width:499px;
    	height:144px;
    	float:left;
    }

    #left{
    	background-image:url(http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y132/cashmoney805/2-1.gif);
    	width:93px;
    	height:257px;
    	float:left;
    }

    #mid{
    	background-image:url(http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y132/cashmoney805/2-2.gif);
    	width:313px;
    	height:257px;
    	float:left;
    }

    #right{
    	background-image:url(http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y132/cashmoney805/2-3.gif);
    	width:93px;
    	height:257px;
    	float:left;
    }

    #btmleft a{
    	background-image:url(http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y132/cashmoney805/2-4.gif);
    	width:154px;
    	height:98px;
    	float:left;
    }

    #btmright{
    	background-image:url(http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y132/cashmoney805/3-2.gif);
    	width:345px;
