Trying to convert a table-based site to div.

I've tried messing with this http://moth.homelinux.com/~scriptdaemon/test.html and I can't get it to display exactly as it is with tables with divs. Now, just testing it, I only began with the top (the part of the table with the logo and the banner with hr and text) When I use divs, the banner image vertically aligns to the very top (whereas with the td it leaves a small space). Also, when I put them in divs, the image alt text no longer shows. Lastly, when I try putting them side-by side, I can only figure out out the position the logo where it is in that link I supplied, but the other part puts the banner and everything as the center of the entire page, instead of the space I want to allot it.

I really hope I explained myself well enough to understand exactly what I mean.

Sounds like you need to adjust margins on some of the elements so as to move them to the right place.
