    Underline colour different to text?

I've been scanning the CSS2 pages [here]) and I've failed to find a method of underlining text using a different color than said text.

    I'm I missing something?

    This will do it:
    <span style="color:#000000;border-bottom:1px solid #CC0000;">this is red underlined black text</span>
But maybe I'm missing something myself...
