Embeded Video Player with ability to select quality

    Hi Folks,

Youtube has the facility to be able to select the quality that you wish to view the video in from Auto to 1080p, but despite searching for ages I can not find a player software that includes this functionality.

We want to be able to export a video once at high quality and have the viewer select a lower quality if their internet can not handle or they do not wish to wait and stream the higher quality version. Exporting the video multiple times in different qualities is not an option due to the quantity of videos that we produce.

Can anyone suggest a player or software either flash or HTML5 that can offier this functionality?

    Thanks in advance

Well youtube has different formats for each quality. They don't just have one video. You can't dynamically change the quality of the video on the fly. You need multiple versions of the video at different qualities to do what you want to do.

    Hello,

If it's not possible to find a video player that can do this function, maybe you can create several versions of the video you filmed, each with different qualities converted beforehand, and use some type of script that can incorporate a video compilation?

Unfortunately not, it takes about 15-20mins to export each film which would make it incredibly time consuming to export multiple versions given the quantities that we need to handle.

When I uploaded some example films to Youtube I uploaded a single version but the player offers 3-4 different quality settings. Is youtube somehow taking my original upload and creating 3-4 different versions to offer the quality selection?? I presumed it was some sort of built in scaling solution...

    Hello,

As far as I know, YouTube is the only service that you can use freely (usability) to do this. Anyways there are other sites that have their own media players that have the ability to change the quality.

Maybe there is a type of software that is used to coincide with the object of the video when embedded.

I believe it is a single video, and YouTube is just converting it to different qualities, streaming after you change them.

I guess the question we're all driving at here, Alex, is why not just use YouTube, if it's free and has the functionality for which you're looking?
What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

    Hello,

Well I actually don't see any other video player that is better than the common version that people use, and YouTube will make updates if needed. It's surprising that there are up to 5 different qualities to choose from in a certain video.

    Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions, we don't want to use youtube because it generates popup ads on embeded films, it also would prevent us from using advertising solutions as well as a few other issues.

If anyone hears of a purchasable player script solution that allows for you to change the quality I would love to hear from you.

    Thanks

    Alex

    Hello,

Here's one link that you may like to see.

    http://www.web-video-player.com/purchase.php

I am not sure if they have everything you wanted, so I also suggest trying an alternative: convert your video to a file format that can be played with Flash Media Player. From there, you can change the quality by right-clicking on the stage itself. There's no add pop-ups beforehand, but you can customize it by adding your own; I've seen sites that have Flash and that add their own advertising solutions to their videos.
