Exclamation QuickTime vs Windows Media Player

I am producing a series of video tutorials for an online web tool. The target audiences are libraries and schools who have recently purchased the product. We are going to publish an embedded online version in flv or mp4 (still trying to decide) and also allow local download in WMV or QuickTime format. Which do you think is more suitable for a screencast for local download and why?
Once I thought I was wrong but I was mistaken.

If you are going to target schools and libraries then I say go with wmv as the will likely be using Windows and WMP comes with windows by default anyways. If you provide the quicktime one only then those computers would need quicktime installed for it to even work. It would be less hassle for the schools because they won't need to install Quicktime on all of their computers just to watch the video.

The only problem I see now though was if the user wanted to put the video on a portable media player like an ipod. The quicktime video would probably be easier to convert to ipod format rather than the wmv.
