    animated light.

    I was wondering how to do this.. the part where the light goes across the picutre

    You could do it with GIMP and GAP (GIMP Animation Package). Download/install GAP and read some tutorials, I found the GAP tutorials out there very helpful. If you absolutely can't figure out GAP, that's quite a simple animation, so you could manually render maybe 10 frames, each with a lighting effect a little further to the right. Save each as an image, and then put each image in a layer in a new GIMP file. Then save is as a GIF, and choose the option about converting layers to frames.

    Lighting effects are under Filters->Light and Shadow. But really, if you can't get that to work, you could just use a large, "fuzzy" white brush at very low opacity (or the eraser for that matter).

    This can easily be done in photoshop with
    Having a white circle drawn the left centre
    Do blending to outer glow very high with white color
    Add first and new image to animation
    Create a moton tween
    save for web as gif file
