fireworks: GRADIENT: white -to- full color photo

At http://www.nzrentalcar.co.nz/ the top image has two parts , the right hand part goes from white 1cm to full color photo(ani) 14cm, well how I do in fireworks the transition from white color to full color , is like a GRADIENT ???
Also if I have an image img1, and add above it an img2(same size), then if for img2 change opacity to 50% it will get seen the img1 above it ?

    Its pretty simple.

Add a new rectangle and change the color from Solid to Linear Gradient, then change the Gradient properties to go from white to white, and 100% opacity to 0% opacity...

Even simpler: Commands > Creative > Fade Image.
