    Pixelate a favicon

Does anyone know how to make a pixel looking favicon? I can only get mine to have feathered edges... Any ideas?

Free file-viewing/converting/processing app, IfranView has a few minimal effects with it, one of them is Pixelation. It can open just about every file type and do a myriad of other functions.

There are many ways to do this in Photoshop.

When you are drawing, use the pencil tool. In general always be sure anti-alias is off- this goes for text too. Text can have different effects placed on it- sharp, strong, etc. be sure these options are set to none.

What I recommend doing is making a shape with anti-alias turned off. Then lock the transparency of the layer and draw within that shape with anti-alias turned on and you will have a pixeled image in which you can use transparency but have smooth transitions within the shape.
