Arrow JavaScript Embeds: Mess of Success?

Ok I know all about embed and object tags, so I don't need to know how to do it but I was just wondering is it better to embed a quicktime video with javascript or to just do it directly with embed/object tags?

I see that many sites (including apple) are using javascript to insert it, I don't get why exactly - they're not checking browsers or anything, they're just inserting it with javascript.

    Cool IE has issues

I think the issue is that the latest edition of Internet Explorer counts most anything that uses an Active-X control to display as a potential security risk. This includes Flash movies (.swf).A Flash movie now has a little line around it and a tool-tip that says something along the lines of "Click to use this control". This is true of objects and embeds that are part of the inline HTML, but javascript injected objects seem to be immune to this behaviour. I don't know why. I've had to start using a javascript loader for all my Flash movies and go back through past projects and convert everybody.

There's a pretty good writeup about it here as well as a free javascript file that can be used for Flash movies.
