    The Best Hosting Server

    Hi all;
    In your opinion which is the best server (windows or Linux) for a small website about a local town;

    Any help will be appreciated;

    Unix - PHP & Mysql stuff
    Windows - ASP stuff

    I think Windows is more expensive too.

    In general if you're purchasing hosting, Windows is more expensive, and generally geared towards ASP/SQL as magicpaul suggested. If you're going to do your own hosting, Linux is probably easier. I think most Linux distros come with the option of having Apache, MySQL, and PHP loaded by default, but I could be wrong about that. In my situation, I have a WAMP (Windows, Apache, MySQL, PHP) setup because a lot of the other applications I rely on unfortunately are tied to Microsoft Windows.
