Idle unimportant question regarding a website

Just had an utter mare of a time trying to find a major company's website, even with some of their stationary to hand.

Even to my inexpert eye their code looks insane, google couldn't find them no way, no how

when you've got the time, care to pooke it around a bit and tell me what they've done?

I'm currently assuming their site is utterly wrong

Has to be a chance on someone bright on here quoting on doing it properly? They're big boys spending serious dosh becoming bigger

OK thanks, but I'm still confused as to what you're asking?

The code isn't really a mess (has doctype, tableless etc) ?

Are you asking as to how they could improve their SEO (search engine optimisation)?

I couldn't find it in Google using their full company name

When I did get there the site seemed very slow indeed, the address bar showed me an IP address rather than a domain

The code looked 'funny' to me, perhaps just my inexperience

It just seemed a slow and clunky site for a proper company to have, quite apart from it seemingly not showing up on google

It will have a hard time indexing the site as the splash page is a frames. The enter link is javascript. 2 things search engines can't read. The rest of the site is frames too in the popup window

I've never seen such a weird mess!

On the one hand the source code is fairly clean and efficient, looks like someone who knew at least something about what they're doing... On the other hand the site uses frames - even for the splash page and the entire site is in a non resizeable popup window...

Someone wants to get in there and quote to do it properly, which precludes me

There're a big operation, investing millions in gear, bigging it up in the trade press, that their website cannot be found, even using their company name is a bit poor.

Yea it's weird how the code is good, but the methods are bad!

Search engines won't follow javascript links, so once it's found the splash page it won't go any further.

Then there's no meta information, and there's no keywords used on the page - they havent' mentioned 'precision colour printing' anywhere except in the image.

The frames and the splash page is the main reason why it's very poorly SEO'd.
