Question javascript framework for front end and what about back end ?

    Hi,

i would like to create a web portal using javascript frameworks like backbone.js, angular.js and so on... for front end experience.

however, to access to database on server side javascript is not secured enough and i guess i need to use PHP to retrieve data from DB and present them to javascript frameworks.

therefore i would like to know if this is the best solution for server-side programming language (i mean PHP) to use with javascript frameworks or if something else exists better ?

My concern is about security of data and transfer of data from DB to front-end (to javascript frameworks), as also payment gateway.

    thx

OK, first of all: Your approach is wrong. You think about JavaScript user experience and frameworks to use way too early in the development process. It all becomes much clearer when you approach this from the progressive enhancement perspective: You make the site/portal work without JS first (using PHP for data retreival), and then you add the JS functionality for enhanced user experience. The trick is that it should work and be usable already, before the JS is added, and JS is only added as enhancement, clear so far?

Now the question about security doesn’t even pose itself anymore because all that JS does is enhance the user experience. It doesn’t work with raw database content/retreival, it doesn’t send data anywhere (except using AJAX which still needs a server side script to effectively process it). So, there you go.

The only time you should be thinking about JavaScript this early in the process would be if you were using it for the back end in place of PHP.

Don't forget to start your JavaScript code with "use strict"; which makes it easier to find errors in your code.
